Star-crossed Commuters
Spikes, stainless steel
60 x 120 cm
2025

Inspired by a star-shaped window I encountered on a postmodern building in Frankfurt am Main, an architecture that appeared playful and dreamlike with windows cut like stars. Yet within those very stars were bird spikes, a quiet reminder of the hostile strategies of anti-animal architecture. I was struck by the irony, a building that gestures toward whimsy and imagination while concealing an exclusionary edge.

Reimagining the motif as a shooting star, an emblem of dreams, wishes, and fleeting hope, I wanted to hold both sides of this duality: the hard, defensive materiality of the spikes and the possibility of transcendence they can never fully contain.
